The Return of HOWQUA
Sometimes we work for love.
Sometimes we just do it for the money.
And every now and then, we love the process so much we’d pay good money just to be in the room.
This is exactly how I felt when HOWQUA, one of Melbourne’s most beloved songwriters recently let me know he was considering a return to music after a decade of focusing on other projects.
While preparing to go under the knife for some extremely risky heart surgery, HOWQUA had decided to finally release a series of videos from a stunning solo performance, recorded at Meat Market in North Melbourne.
So with less than 2 weeks to go, we got to work gathering his old creative assets, developing a go-to-market strategy, creating album artwork and building a launch website.
Luckily, we’d already collaborated on a few projects together, so there was already a high degree of trust between us. Despite being somewhat of a perfectionist regarding his art, HOWQUA was kind enough to give me free range and quickly fell in love with one of my earliest concepts.
