Rogues Lab

“I trust you man. Just do your thing and have fun with it”

When one of your favourite people - who also happens to be one of Australia’s best devs - calls and says they need a portfolio site designed, it’s like my own personal version of Christmas.

Complete creative control to explore new ideas, from strategy and branding to mobile and interaction design, Darren just said ‘You know I can build whatever weird shit you come up with man, so go crazy and let’s see what you can get done in a week or so”.

The finished product is basically 3 different sites in 1

Previously working under the very clever but difficult to Google ‘Schrodingers Labs’, we agreed to kick off with a rapid brand refresh and digital strategy sprint.

After workshopping a ton of different names and domains, we quickly settled on an old nickname based on Darren’s last name ‘Rogan’.

With a strong brand already coming to life, I jumped into Figma and began laying out the various sections Darren wanted his portfolio to include.

With so much focus on Darren’s technical and strategic capabilities, we really only needed a few pages, which gave me tons of room to play with motion and interaction ideas.

Being a multi-faceted, multi-talented kind of guy, it seemed only fitting for Darren to have this represented through his folio.

So in the end, we basically made 3 complete websites in 1 by having the entire site instantly switch from Light, to Dark, to Ridonkulous Mode.
